Queensland’s temperature extremes mean that quality insulation can make a meaningful impact to the comfort and ambience of your home, as well as your energy bills. When heating a room, heated air tends to ‘sit’ up against the ceiling, effectively warming it. That means if your home is not insulted correctly, the warmth is transferred into the roof space – and then outside your property! Not only does this loss of heat result in cooler air ‘dropping’ in the room, it also creates a thermal cycling of warm air to the ceiling, until all available warmth is lost. The net effect is more energy is required to maintain the desired temperature in your home, sending energy bills through the roof.
about Ceiling and roof insulation installation
With home designs and insulation technology improving over the past two decades, both older properties and new builds can enjoy the benefits of effective insulation that keep homes cool in summer and warm in winter. The key is choosing the right product. At RoofSuckers we use only high quality Australian made insulation batts that provide the best results for cooling in summer and heating in winter.
The cost to install new insulation is not high, especially when compared to long term savings on energy bills. We also recognise that every property is different. That’s why we always provide a free quote, which can be done quickly if all information can be provided over the phone. Final cost to install new insulation will depend on property size, whether there is existing insulation, if ceiling dust removal is required, and product selection.
At RoofSuckers, we encourage our customers to see the cost to install new insulation as a long term investment that will pay dividends in a home that is cool in summer and warm in winter. Our pricing is competitive and based on the quality products we provide for our customers.
We’re a proudly Australian business and use
Without correct insulation, hot air can ‘sit’ up against the ceiling and then be transferred into the roof space and external to your property! Losing heat this way can result in cooler air ‘dropping’ in the room, thus creating a thermal cycling of warm air to the ceiling, until all available warmth is lost.
Similarly, when you try to cool a room, the reverse happens. On a hot day the roof space heats up. Without proper ventilation, a ‘stack’ of hot air sits in the roof cavity, heating all surfaces it touches, including the ceiling. As the temperature of the ceiling increases internally, it heats the air against it. As most air conditioning systems are fixed at height and close to the ceiling, the system must work harder (use more energy) to cool down warmer than normal air. In fact, the air conditioner’s temperature gauge constantly measures the temperature at its location on the wall, rather than at floor level. The result? The air conditioner will try to ‘over cool’ when it does not need to. Together these factors can mean up to 40 of both heating and cooling costs are going out the roof.
