Insulation acts as a barrier to heat flow and is essential for keeping your home warm in winter and cool in summer. A well insulated and well designed home provides year round comfort, cutting cooling and heating bills by up to half. This in turn, reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Insulation is also a highly effective sound barrier when installed and used correctly.
Insulation must cater for seasonal weather as well as daily variations in temperature.
We recommend the following brands:
An R–value is a rating which measures how well insulation can resist heat flow. ‘R‘ stands for Thermal Resistance. The R–value depends on the type of material, its density and thickness. Tiny air particles trapped in the insulating material resist the movement of heat (and cold).
With ceiling insulation, the R-value is generally not limited to space, so the question is more how much insulation do you need. A higher R-value will increase the level of thermal protection, which in turn can help to reduce your homes power consumption. As electricity prices rise, an increasing number of homes will find that the savings in their power bills over time will more than justify the initial investment in ceiling insulation.
If you currently have no insulation in your ceiling, then even a small layer of thermal insulation will make a significant and noticeable difference. Obviously the higher the R-value the more effective the thermal resistance. Below is a list of the insulation we use and its R-value.
Upon completion of inspection of your home, we will assess which insulation is most suitable for your home taking into account the clients’ requirements.
Modern day glasswool insulation has come a long way when it concerns health. Due to the extremely low levels of VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) it is safe for allergy and asthma sufferers.
Insulating your home is one of the best ways to help mitigate your environmental impact. All glasswool insulation is made using 70% recycled glass. When taking into account the reduction in utility usage, it is a cost effective and efficient way to substantially reduce your carbon footprint.
Pink Batts® Insulation is made from lightweight, flexible and resilient glasswool (sometimes referred to as mineral wool), specially designed for the thermal insulation of ceilings and walls in domestic and commercial buildings.
Pink Batts® Insulation has the added benefit of being an effective sound absorber and so contributes to both the thermal and acoustic comfort of building occupants.
The comprehensive range of sizes and R-values available ensures there is an efficient and effective insulation solution for your home.
Pink Batts® Insulation is stiffened to fit snugly between standard spacing wall studs – both timber and steel – without sagging and should be installed at the time of construction before fixing internal lining.

Earthwool is rot-proof, odourless, non-hygroscopic, does not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria. It is chemically neutral, does not contain impurities and comes with a 50 year warranty.
Earthwool: Think of it as green… only browner.
Glasswool is the most widely used insulation product throughout the world – and for many good reasons. It is non-combustible, has high thermal performance, superb sound absorption and is outstanding value for money. It‘s a challenge to make something this good even better – but we‘ve done it!
Knauf Insulation‘s Earthwool doesn‘t look or feel like any glasswool insulation you‘ve ever experienced. That‘s because the natural brown colour represents a level of sustainability and handling for glasswool never before achieved. We didn‘t choose brown, it just came naturally.
